This image is a portrait of a hand woven bag, in traditional Raven’s tail weaving. The weaver is Mary Gubatayao Hagen, Tsimshian/Tlingit/Filipina. She has blended traditional weaving methods with contemporary & traditonal materials, including woven copper wire, beads, fur…
The photogragher is her daughter, Leigh Anne Gubatayao Korn, Tsimshian/Tlingit/Filipina. Inspired by the beauty of the bag and looking for a fitting background she was moved to capture its spirit with the elements of Mother Earth.
The symbol carved on wood represents the Holy Spirit and how it flows from the Creator through the Great Teachers, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, and Baha’u’llah to Humankind.
The photo is mounted on a black card. You will need a light colored ink pen to write on it.
A portion of all sales go to a Native Student Mentorship Project.
